Bespoke Kitchen West London

We were approached by a couple shortly after they had bought a large family house in Chiswick, West London. Their plan was to take a ‘bite’ out of their large garden at the back of the house and build a very large single-story extension. They wanted to bring their living space as close to the gardenĀ as possible.

Our brief, as kitchen makers, was to design cupboards and drawers that would give plenty of storage space, as there was no separate larder or pantry; and to make a large island with an overhanging bar where they and their friends and children could sit and chat.

They wanted the overall effect to be clean and simple but for the kitchen to have a slightly ‘French Country’ feel.

So, whilst we allowed for a traditional panel moulding on the doors, we spray-painted all of the outside visible cabinet paintwork to give a smooth and durable finish. Our customers chose some colourful ceramic knobs. And they opted for a Carrara Marble worktop. Carrara Marble is a lovely material but if it not well sealed it can be susceptible to acid stains (eg. from lemon or wine). So our worktop manufacturers sealed it properly and it looks stunning. As for storage, we designed a very large larder cupboard with solid wood compartments on the backs of the doors and plenty of storage options at low level. We used American Black Walnut for the insides of the cabinets.

Our customers were delighted with the results and now spend much of their time in their lovely airy extension.

We make handmade, bespoke kitchens all over London, and have worked on projects in Chiswick, Hammersmith, Turnham Green, Fulham, Kensington, and Notting Hill Gate, as well as further south in Putney, Wimbledon, Barnes and Richmond.
